abstract artist jill kimura posing with her painting

Jill Kimura is an artist and mother of two from the Washington, D.C. area. Home birthing and wrangling two tiny humans as a stay-at-home mom inspired her to explore the raw, emotional, and deeply personal realities of postpartum through her art. In addition to her intimate figurative work, Jill also creates bold, colorful abstract paintings that celebrate movement, energy, and emotion.

She has collaborated with Faces of Postpartum to design merchandise for their platform that shares photo essays from postpartum people around the world. Her illustrations have appeared in Good Little Girls Zine, an online magazine highlighting poetry, essays, and short stories by women writers.

Jill’s painting Refuge was featured in Gift of Life, a juried exhibition by the Women’s Caucus for Art in Washington, D.C., focused on maternal health awareness and advocacy. She has also exhibited her work in SHE:DC 2024, a curated show spotlighting women and non-binary artists in the DMV, as well as at Palette 22 DC and City Food Hall Grandview in West Palm Beach, FL.

Her work continues to evolve, intertwining themes of motherhood and nature, reflecting both her growing perspective and distinct creative voice.
